Final particles (that is, particles positioned at the end of the sentence) appear in large numbers in the Vietnamese language and are used in diverse areas, from everyday conversations to poetry, folk songs, idioms, sayings, literature and even political speeches. Not only the intent of the utterance, but also the feeling of the speaker is conveyed by these particles to the listener. Obviously, when they try to express some details or feelings, Vietnamese people will simply use them, and when we can accurately use the final particles, our utterance would sound more native.

“Nhậu” is the word for “beer drink (or rice wine) with friends” in Vietnam. The whole thing is just as likely in a techno club as it is in the more relaxed environment of vinyl chairs on the side of the lane, however they choose, actually. But the conventional definition of nhậu with your friends is based, rather than drinking, on sharing good food and good drink with good company. You don’t really need to head out, you don’t need to dress up for nhậu. In reality, one of the most common settings for a good evening of “beer with friends” is a BBQ joint or a circle of friends in someone’s house sharing a hot pot.
