In comparison to their older generations, who are known to be thrifty, young Vietnamese, especially those born in the mid-1990s, or Generation Z, tend to spend rather than save.\
A recent survey by Decision Lab of 16,000 respondents in Vietnam’s three largest cities – Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City – found that Vietnam’s Generation Z, which accounts for 15% of a population of approximately 93 million, spends an average of VND890,000 ($40) a month dining out.
