Vietnam is a nice country to be living in. Some products cost less than half of what you’d pay in the West, and less than what they would cost in many other Southeast Asian countries from 5 percent to 25 percent everywhere.
The most costly city in Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh City, and then Hanoi. Even in those two locations, for less than $1,300 a month, a couple will enjoy a cozy, middle-class lifestyle. Many Westerners living in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City get around $500 a month by spending, but it’s a lifestyle that’s no-frill. A monthly budget of around $4,000 pays for top-end luxury, including a big, spacious home with a lake or park view, dining at 5-star restaurants, and regular cruises and sightseeing tours around Vietnam.
